Dr Julia Woitischek is an Earth scientist whose work looks at weathering processes and degassing mechanism, with particular focus on the interaction between gases and liquids. In her PhD research she combined experimental fluid dynamics, remote sensing and magma modelling to better understand the degassing behaviour of basaltic open vent volcanoes. During her time as Research Associate she studied experimentally the leaching potential of metals during the chemical weathering of sandstones in saline solutions. Julia is a member of the Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (MSWG) at The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM), where she brings her specialised knowledge of engineered carbon dioxide removal to support the assessment of methodologies in relation the the ICVCM's Core Carbon Principles.
Before joining BeZero, she was working with Imperial College London and the Natural History Museum, London on the release of metals during chemical rock weathering.
