Here are some key takeaways from the report

  • The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has approved a new set of methodologies covering six engineered carbon dioxide removal (eCDR), one improved forest management (IFM), and one afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR) methodology.

  • The expansion of Core Carbon Principles (CCP)-labelled methodologies is expected to boost market confidence for the approved projects. However, BeZero Carbon’s ratings highlight that CCP eligibility alone does not guarantee quality nor mitigate risk at the project level.

  • BeZero’s ratings vary widely across newly CCP-approved projects (‘AA’ to ‘B’), showing that methodology labels alone do not capture project-specific risks.
