Emsurge partners with BeZero Carbon

Emsurge, Emstream’s wholesale carbon marketplace, has partnered with BeZero Carbon, a global ratings agency for the Voluntary Carbon Market, to host the BeZero Carbon Rating and rating summary on its platform.

Established in 2018, Emsurge develops digitalisation solutions to bring transparency and trading efficiencies to highly bespoke commodity markets. Through BeZero Carbon’s API technology, the Emsurge Carbon Marketplace will feature the BeZero Carbon credit ratings for more than 250 carbon projects in over 50 countries, across all sectors and standards.  Emsurge typically has bids and offers from a rolling liquidity pool of many of the same projects on its platform.

Integrating BeZero Carbon’s ratings into the platform will give Emsurge’s users, which include traders, project developers, investors and corporate buyers, access to an independent quality assessment, allowing them to price and manage risk.

Melissa Lindsay, Founder of Emstream and Emsurge, said:

“Our partnership with BeZero Carbon enables network members to build a better understanding of the quality of carbon credits relative to prices. We see this as a critical step if we are to utilise markets to direct capital where it has the highest climate impact.”

Tommy Ricketts, CEO and Co-Founder of BeZero Carbon said:

“We are pleased to be partnering with Emsurge to help their customers understand the quality of different carbon credits. It’s an exciting sign that the Voluntary Carbon Market is maturing. Independent ratings are vital to building confidence in carbon credits as a tool to accelerate Net Zero transition.”
