BeZero Carbon welcomes ratings expert Mani Gangadharan Venketachalam as President

We are thrilled to announce that Mani Gangadharan Venketachalam has joined BeZero Carbon, as President. Mani is former President of Crisil, a global ratings and analytics company and part of S & P Global, and former CEO of Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services. He brings three decades of experience building and scaling up businesses in ratings, data, information services, research and analytics.

A chartered accountant by training, Mani joined Crisil as a management trainee in 1992, and worked throughout the organisation in a variety of leadership roles in ratings, research, business development and advisory services, before becoming President in 2011, covering strategy, new initiatives, and mergers and acquisitions. He subsequently left Crisil and advised economics and data firms on their growth agenda, before joining the other ratings leader Moody’s, as CEO of its Knowledge Services business. There he successfully oversaw the integration of two acquired entities, Copal and Amba, into a commercially successful business. Later, he joined Anchura Standards (now ACIN) as its CEO, and helped build the first ever global standard for operational risk and controls for banks. He has also advised and mentored many startups and scale ups in credit and information services.

Mani brings a huge wealth of experience in ratings agencies and information and intelligence products for financial market institutions. He will play an integral role as BeZero Carbon focuses its efforts entirely on becoming the global ratings agency for carbon markets, bringing the language of risk to climate action, and building out the information architecture for ecosystem markets. He will work alongside co-founders Sebastien Cross and Tommy Ricketts, with a seat on the board.

Mani Gangadharan Venketachalam, President of BeZero Carbon, said:

“I am excited to join the exceptionally talented team at BeZero Carbon and help build the risk and information architecture for the carbon and ecosystem markets. This infrastructure is the critical missing piece as the world strives to achieve its net zero goals.”

Sebastien Cross, co-founder of BeZero Carbon, said:

“We’re delighted that Mani has joined us. His expertise and experience in ratings businesses will bring integrity and laser sharp focus to all we do in our ratings processes and products.”

Tommy Ricketts, co-founder and CEO of BeZero Carbon, said:

“We are very lucky to have Mani on board as we enter this new phase at BeZero Carbon, building out our product set, enriching our processes and setting the business up for growth.”
