Our recent webinar explored what’s driving carbon credit prices, where compliance eligibility and quality signals diverge, and why risk-reflective pricing is essential for directing finance to the projects that deliver.
Our latest analysis, using independent price data from AlliedOffsets, shows that higher-rated credits command a clear premium in some of the most actively traded segments of the market.
In Latin American Avoided Deforestation, credits rated ‘A’ or higher were estimated to trade at 2.5x the price of unrated credits. In Sub-Saharan African Cookstoves, the premium per rating notch grew from close to zero in 2024 to 17%.
Credits that share a methodology, sector and region can carry very different levels of carbon risk, yet they have long been priced as if they were interchangeable. Our analysis shows that this is starting to change.
