The SBTi and its implications for global decarbonisation

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has gained momentum since its launch in 2015. To date, over 3,700 companies have joined the initiative. It has great influence over the corporate sector as it is seen as the only organisation providing a framework for ambitious carbon reduction and net zero transition. However, risks that the framework will not deliver against its goals have been highlighted by several third parties, which has led to increased public scrutiny.
