Through interviews with 12 market insiders, we have ascertained a mood of cautious optimism regarding the potential of Brazil’s new national carbon market law, the SBCE, to catalyse growth in the country’s carbon credit market.

Interviewees told us that, with the right governance structure in place, the SBCE could stimulate unprecedented domestic demand for credits, connect Brazil to international compliance demand via Article 6, and drive up credit integrity standards.
