BeZero has responded to the consultation for the 2026 review of the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme. ACCUs are Australia’s domestic carbon credit scheme and are eligible for use in the national compliance scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism. The review is examining recommendations to (i) improve the operation of the scheme, (ii) support public confidence, and (iii) ensure the scheme is effectively contributing to emissions reduction goals.
BeZero’s key message is to prioritise transparency in the ACCU scheme, which will close the data access gap and enable stakeholders to capitalise on market opportunities. See the document for our full response submitted to the Australian Climate Change Authority.
