Afforestation, Reforestation & Restoration (ARR) carbon projects have an important role to play in delivering high-integrity climate impact. But delivering credible outcomes depends on strong project design, robust risk management, and a clear understanding of the technical, environmental, and the local context in which projects are developed and implemented.
This discussion brought together expert perspectives across the carbon market, from ratings and project development to investment, to examine what strong project design looks like in practice. Through real project examples, we explored how developers integrate risk management into planning, how investors assess project quality when engaging at early stages of development, and how approaches differ across project contexts.
The session also reflected on how best practice is evolving across the sector, including advances in carbon modelling, monitoring approaches, and the use of better data, before opening the floor to audience questions.
